Undercover Nerd Project

Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026

We collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what we do collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

This policy applies to Undercover Nerd Project and its tools, including the Anagram Solver, available at www.undercovernerdproject.com (the "Site"). "We", "us" and "our" mean Undercover Nerd Project. You can contact us at hello@undercovernerdproject.com.

2. Information we collect

Letters you type

The Anagram Solver processes the letters you enter in your own browser. They are not sent to our servers. If you copy or share a link such as ?letters=listen, the letters are part of that link, so anyone you share it with will see them.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when you request a page, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. We use this to deliver the Site, keep it secure and fix problems.

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to respond and to improve the Site.

Preferences stored on your device

The Site saves your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage, and the Anagram Solver stores its files and word lists in your browser so it loads faster and works offline. This information stays on your device and is not used to identify you.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

4. Advertising

We show ads served by Google AdSense. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before personalised ads or non-essential advertising cookies are used. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

5. Analytics

We may use Google Analytics to collect usage statistics. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers to collect information such as pages visited, approximate location (derived from your IP address) and device and browser details. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

6. How we use information

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: our legitimate interests (running and securing the Site), your consent (analytics and personalised advertising cookies), and compliance with legal obligations.

7. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only with service providers that help us run the Site: our web hosting provider, and Google where analytics or advertising are enabled. We may also disclose information if required by law.

8. International transfers

Our service providers, including Google, may process information in Canada, the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. Retention

Server logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider. Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with your request. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the settings and policies of the provider.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a privacy regulator. This includes rights under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, and US state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. To make a request, email hello@undercovernerdproject.com. We will respond within the time required by law.

The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

The Site is served over HTTPS, and we keep the information we hold to a minimum. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Third-party links

The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
